St Peter’s is ten years old this year. The school was established in 1999 from the amalgamation of three Roman Catholic High Schools. A new school was built at Belle Vue and the new building was opened by Bishop Brain in March 2003.
In a short period of time St Peter’s has established itself as one of the leading schools in Manchester. Examination results have improved year on year and are now above national averages and amongst the highest in Manchester. Ofsted described St Peter’s as “a good school with some outstanding features”, with an outstanding curriculum, outstanding leadership and enormous potential to keep improving.
St Peter’s is a Roman Catholic High School founded on gospel values. Pupils are encouraged to live their faith and to lead purposeful lives. The school regularly raises funds for charity: a cheque for £700 was taken by pupils to Cornerstone, Manchester’s charity for the homeless, at Christmas and over £4,000 was raised for Francis House Children’s Hospice through the sale of the St Peter’s 2009 Calendar.
